Journal  Review

A journal by Basmah Issa AlSaleem called "The Effect of Facebook Activities on Enhancing Oral Communication Skills for EFL Learners" attempts to explain how English as Foreign Language learners (EFL) enhances their speaking skills. This journal was published on April 27, 2018, in a part of the Canadian Center of Science and Education, Volume 11, No. 5. It also was received on January 22, 2018.

The research which conducted by Basmah Issa AlSaleem appointed twenty English Education Department students as his participants. As the title suggests, the researcher specifies participants who speak English as their foreign language, where their mother tongue is Arabic. They were divided into two groups, namely the control group and the experimental group, they also have given a pre-test and a post-test by the researcher.

After that, he investigated the entire research process. They examined posts from the groups on Facebook from February 2013 to June 2014. Students face many problems that hinder learners from mastering them. He used Facebook groups as a medium to find solutions to problems faced by students. The journal's learning activities aim to improve learners 'skills via e-activities, achieving interaction among learners each other's and between teachers and learners through discussions and dialogues about learners' questions.

Basmah Issa AlSaleem applies a series of procedures related to research using the SPSS statistical package to calculate the means and standard deviation of the scores. The "t" test was used to determine differences between the participants' mean scores in both groups on the oral communication skills test. As for the results, there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group (students who were taught by Facebook activities) and the mean scores of the control group (students who were taught by the traditional method) on the overall oral communication skills post-test results were in favor of the experimental group, shows the importance of Facebook activities on enhancing the EFL communication skills.

This journal has an advantage that shows in detail all procedures, methods, and all things related to research. It also complete with data treats during the process, both before the research, in progress, until the completion of the research, readers can imagine a series of studies experienced by participants. However, this journal also has disadvantages. In my opinion, the journal's discussion seems to have widened out of the way that is being studied. Besides, the journals' contents are pretty challenging to understand, whether due to my ignorance as a reviewer or indeed a researcher who is not quite right in conveying all his research has done.
