Journal Resume Part 2: Innovation Education and Research

--- RESUME ---

The research in this journal has an interesting background because it was held since the Covid-19 pandemic. As we all know that during the pandemic, both universities and other educational institutions changed the learning system which was initially carried out face-to-face, then transferred to online. Surely, there are various challenges along the way. In particular, the logistical challenges and technological challenges are very big, at least that happened at West Kazakhstan State University (WKSU). Researchers think that in the future, leading universities will seek new business models and will implement disruptive innovations into these learning processes. Moreover, in recent years, the development of higher education in Kazakhstan has been accompanied by intensive economic growth which has increased the demand for highly qualified employers. These are the things that underlie the compilation of this journal.

After knowing how the research background, then the next is the aim of this research, namely to reveal the highly innovative ways of applying and the creativity approach at WKSU. In this study, the researcher examines what factors are associated with this and determines the conditions for developing an innovative culture across the university and industry. The more specific goals are exactly the same as the juice of this journal, namely to explore the nature of the innovation ecosystem at WKSU by finding out whether there is a culture of innovation in universities. If there is, then which innovation strategy is appropriate to be implemented at WKSU.

The study was conducted using the PESTLE framework analysis, the Innovation Value Chain (IVC) model (Hansen and Birkinshaw, 2007), and the Enterprise Entrepreneurship Assessment Instrument (CEAI) (Kuratko and Hornsby, 2014). After that, a questionnaire survey was also carried out on 83 people of which the respondents were WKSU staff (senior and intermediate) and 35 students. The staff who became respondents were those who had worked for at least one year at WKSU and had three years of experience in higher education. Additionally, within each phase, some activities involve collaboration, screening, and development, as well as the dissemination of ideas within and outside the organization. These new ideas can later be incorporated into a system of novelty and creativity, while at the same time leading to innovation. The Company Entrepreneurship Assessment Tool helps assess internal organizations in five dimensions, namely management support, work policies, rewards, time availability, and organizational boundaries (Kontić, Vidicki and Domanović, 2017).

The results are divided into six major points that each have a discussion area. Namely, politics, economy, social, technology, law, and of course the environment.

First, the results in the political field name as the State Educational Development Program for 2016-2022 aim to increase competitiveness, ensure that graduates are suitable for the country's industrial and innovative development. The government of Kazakhstan has also launched a technology transfer and commercialization support program. Since 1993, the Bolashak Scholarship has assisted talented young people in obtaining quality education abroad. The Bolashak Program currently has agreements with 33 countries and 200 educational institutions worldwide; it has more than 10,000 graduates.

Second, in the economic sector, more high school graduates may directly enter their work lives because the KEI index or the level of knowledge application in the economy is still very low due to several factors and the lockdown pandemic is very influential in this regard.

Third, in the socio-cultural field also the results have seen a decline as graduates of Kazakh Altitude schools are more willing to study in other countries. These students may doubt why they would want to study in Kazakhstan if they could study elsewhere and have better career prospects and salaries.

Then, the fourth is in technology where 800 million global workers can lose their jobs by 2030 and be replaced by robotic automation (McKinsey Global Institute, 2017). This is related to the advancement and development of technology so that online courses are massively open.

Furthermore, the fifth outcome in the field of law, namely that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan maintains strict oversight as state endorsement, public control, certification, and institutional accreditation of independent accreditation associations have projected a major impact on the industrial sector.

Finally, the environmental sector, which is a trend and the main topics are green construction, environmentally friendly campus planning, environmentally-friendly equipment and facilities, natural capital improvements. Universities must demonstrate a sustainable approach to the environment and be examples of the implementation of excellent sustainability standards.

In conclusion, to determine the WKSU innovation strategy from determining goals based on business objectives, capabilities, market context, structure, culture. WKSU must understand the place and importance of strategic innovation in the university ecosystem. The top-level innovation strategy which is the right strategy for WKSU (Afuah, 2013), also focuses on incremental innovation where the university can slowly build a competitive position.

WKSU must rethink its current position and implement technological innovations in a cost-effective way that will prepare students for a new labor market, develop sustainable values , and project beneficial effects on society. Innovation needs to be considered as a sustainable capability at a university that is built for temporary gain, which is embedded in the organization. Management staff must have an innovative entrepreneurial approach to education and research. Then the leader in the university is the key factor who has a long-term vision of innovation and understands the implementation of the strategy.

REASON

The reason why I chose this journal to be my resume material was attracted by the title which had the theme of eco nature. I was curious about the process of getting to the results of this research so I decided to read it and make this a resume, as well as to fulfill my critical reading assignment. In addition, the not-so-many journal page factors made me think that this journal would not ramble on. So, I was a reader can understand the contents very well.

IDEAS AND INSPIRATION

After reading this journal. I feel like I have the idea to always green the environment and don't forget to keep up to date with all areas that come into contact with everyday life. Such as social and cultural, economic, even political and legal thought through technology. Because it is too big and seems difficult to reach if you want to green the campus area as discussed in this journal. So I turned the idea into something smaller and easier to grasp. Namely doing it starting from my own home.
